About Us

Shambala means the place of Gods, where the Gods meet in the 4th dimension, ultimately, the place of utopia.

At Shambala we make and sell handcrafted items, and have been selling them into our market for over 30 years, back when our first shop was located opposite The Wheel in Durban.  The Mushroom Farm has been our home since 2016.

Philippe, our shop owner was born in France, in a village with about 100 people, and after leaving the army, set out on an epic journey of traveling the world.  During his travels he learned how to make Mexican bracelets, and that was the start of his love, and his journey of all things beautiful and spiritual.

Philippe now handcrafts items of jewellery and clothing that are sold in the shop, and is supplemented with fine handcrafted items from around the world.   

The ability to make bracelets stood him in good stead when he was a young traveler, when he traded bracelets for accommodation and food.

His travels have taken hom to India, Indonesia, Thailand and Nepal amonst many others.
